Killara feedlot is located 15 Kilometres West of Quirindi and approximately 70 kilometres South of Tamworth in New South Wales on the edge of the Liverpool Plains.
The Liverpool Plains district is one of the most fertile farming areas in Australia producing sorghum , cotton and a variety of other cash crops.
The proximity of the feedlot to the New England grazing district leaves it well positioned for livestock procurement.
In March 1998 Elders Limited , Taiwan Sugar Company and Taiwan Pineapple Company formed a Joint Venture to purchase the Killara Feedlot assets. In 2001 Elders Limited and TSC bought out the shareholding of TPC.
Killara Feedlot is a licenced 20,000 head facility which is NFAS ( National Feedlot Acreditation Scheme ) , CATTLECARE and MSA accredited.and operates within the guidelines of an Animal Care Statement.
The feedlot operates under an Environmental Management Plan which complies with the National Beef Cattle Feedlot Environmental Code of Practice.
Killara contract feeds for Elders domestic and export supply programmes and also contract feeds for external clients when commercially viable .
